I truly cannot believe that this semester has come to and end. Where did the time go? With summer now upon us, it is time to break out my bright colors and rotate my wardrobe. I was so inspired by this look from Tomas Maier’s resort 2016 collection. Not only do I love color-blocking, but I am also a huge fan of stripes: horizontal, vertical or diagonal, I love it! The shape of the dress also drew me in. I am currently obsessed with loose, flowing or boxy dresses. To sum it up, this look was basically begging me to recreate it with my own personal touches.
The base of my ensemble begins with a navy and cream striped dress from H&M. As much as I love the bright colored stripes in the Tomas Maier dress, I opted for colors that were a little more neutral so that I could really play with my accessories. For example, I added an emerald green tiered necklace- one of my absolute favorites! As I’ve continually been growing into my own sense of style, I have become very interested in mixing and matching different prints. Pairing two totally unexpected prints together can create such an amazing outcome. That’s why I chose to pair pointed toe leopard print Franco Sarto flats with this outfit. To finish off the look, I wanted to add another bright pop of color, so I grabbed my tomato Ralph Lauren bag. I originally bought this bag because I love the structure of it, but I must say the color has now become my favorite aspect!
While the look is definitely different compared to the Tomas Maier piece above, I love the way the entire ensemble looked. That is what is so great about fashion and style- each person can take any look and make it completely and uniquely their own. It has been an absolute joy seeing how each student expresses his or her sense of style this past semester.
