Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Julie Bastulli, and before you ask, yes my name does rhyme. I am a fourth year at Ohio State University studying Fashion as well as, Retail and Business and I could not be more excited to be one of the newest Style Gurus on campus this semester with CollegeFashionista.
Fashion has always been a big part of my life, as an art form and as a method of self-expression. Kate Spade was quoted saying, “Playing dress up starts at age five and never truly ends.” I have been playing dress up since before I knew what fashion was, and realized my freshman year of college that I should get paid for it. So I declared my major, started my own blog a little over a year ago, and have not looked back. I am so interested in the ways of how different cultures, time periods and people of the streets influence trends and the ways we dress. However, I also love the fast paced corporate fashion setting. I am constantly looking for a balance between the two in my dream job, maybe as a buyer or forecaster, but for now pre-production is my stomping ground.
My style can be defined as urban sophistication with basics being the name of the game. My closet is full of monochromatic styles with pops of color every so often, which makes it easier to mix and match. I can throw on skinny jeans, a leather jacket and flats one day or a dress and Converse the next. It all depends on my mood. There is rarely a day that passes where I don’t wear lipstick (my favs are MAC and Stila’s Liquid Lipstick). There’s nothing like the feeling of power you get with a fresh coat of lipstick.
When I am not writing for CollegeFashionista you can find me singing in and leading the Ohio State Women’s Glee Club as the Vice President, writing for Her Campus Ohio State, updating my blog, exploring the Short North one tea and coffee shop at a time, preparing for my first triathlon (pray for me), Instagramming, online shopping, watching Friends, reading and channeling my inner yogi; the list goes on and on. However, I always keep the good vibes flowing.
I can’t wait to start this journey with CollegeFashionista and look forward to sharing my view of Ohio State’s fashion culture with you each week.
