Hi there fellow Fashionistas/os, my name is Amy and I am currently studying sociology and anthropology in my second year at Bournemouth University in the UK.
So what brings me to intern at CollegeFashionista?I have always had a love for fashion and textiles. Since a young age I was either dressing up in old bridesmaid’s dresses, fashioning garments out of net curtains or taking apart my broken second-hand sewing machine. So I guess it was inevitable that I would end up doing something in the fashion industry.
With that in mind, it is obvious that somewhere along the line another passion of mine grew: the passion for people. Studying sociology and anthropology gives me amazing insight and opens so many doors when it comes to looking and discovering cultural influence. Sifting through ethnographies from all around the world I have really learned where the platform for many trends have emerged from and what sparked them to develop.
My style can be influenced a lot by how I am feeling. So if I have decided to wear an all black ensemble- watch out! I also enjoy combing through all the various look books of online retailers and am a regular subscriber to ELLE magazine (you could say it’s my Bible). I enjoy fusing together smart garments such as a blazer or a blouse with more laid back items like my favorite pair of jeans. I find it important to remain comfortable but to dress for the occasion and how you would like to be perceived.
This particular outfit describes me perfectly: a simple white blouse from New Look paired with my green, faux fur gilet and black fedora to really make a statement. I paired a natural face contrasted with daring Big Apple Red OPI nail varnish, and who could forget my favorite Ted Baker messenger bag and black Joni jeans from Topshop? It is sophisticated style with a personal twist.
