Hi Fashionistas/os, my name is Bailey Deighan, and I am going to be a junior at Western Michigan University this upcoming fall. I am majoring in creative writing and double minoring in fashion merchandising and marketing, blending my two loves of writing and fashion perfectly. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I’m so excited to see what this amazing opportunity brings!
My love for fashion started at an early age. As a kid, I would parade around my house decked out in a pink dress with a pink feather boa to match. My style these days has become a little more understated, but I still love a pop of color! I knew the fashion industry was for me when I started to spend hours surrounded by piles of magazines. I would cut out clips of my favorite celebrities and write my own articles about them. Now I get to write articles about my peers instead.
My personal style changes all the time. I don’t like to box myself into one designated style. One day I will dress like a bohemian festival-goer and the next I will be in a minimalistic, classic outfit. One of the many things I love about fashion is that it is always changing, evolving and growing, just like myself.
In this outfit, I chose to go for a vintage look. This bell sleeved romper screams ’70s. I kept the retro theme going by using gold accessories such as my headband. To complete my look I added some comfortable cork wedges. These shoes instantly dress up a look without killing your feet.
When I am not searching my college campus for inspiration, you can find me working as a sales consultant at a local bridal boutique. Seeing the look on a bride’s face when she finds her gown is the most rewarding aspect of my job! In my free time I like to follow French bulldog instagram accounts, go to concerts and read.
I look forward to sharing the style of Western Michigan University with all you Fashionistas/os!
