Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Rebecca Rossenrode and I am in my final year at the University of Western Australia, majoring in both English and Communications.
Summer holidays are just around the corner, although for us Aussies it is winter break. Nonetheless university break, whatever the season, means mixing up your personal style and experimenting with different fashions. To me, university break also signifies a time for creating happy memories, whether that is hanging out with friends, starting an internship, traveling to new places around the globe or learning a new skill. This break I am looking forward to traveling around Europe with my best friend and twin sister. It will be exciting to observe as a Style Guru how fashion and style differs on the other side of the globe.
This period away from study is also a time to rediscover your individual style choices and stories. Something, I’m eager to observe and learn throughout my internship at CollegeFashionista. For me, it is truly inspiring to see how a person’s clothes can have such a positive impact on their confidence, mannerisms, relationships and decisions.
Even though at times I just can’t seem to define my personal style, I love the effortless style from the ’60s and ’70s. Jane Birkin’s graceful, natural and unforced approach is always a point of reference for my everyday fashion choices. I also love Alexa Chung’s honest, “wear what you want and what suits you” attitude. Who doesn’t? The recent summer collection Alexa Chung designed for AG Jeans simply stole my heart. The capsule mixed ’70s glamour with nautical, Parisian vibes. For this reason, I’m absolutely in love with my AC for AG jumper. Although I loved the whole collection, this jumper was my personal favorite because it encapsulates the relaxed nature of the collection and its versatility is endless. I love how it is oversized yet simple. I decided to pair it with my navy, heart-detailed A-line skirt. I like how the shape of the skirt adds structure and the texture and detailing add a subtle statement. To keep things casual I decided to finish off the look with a trusty pair of black heeled sandals.
I look forward to showcasing the amazing style around my campus and city. Being the first Style Guru for the University of Western Australia is an exciting responsibility and I cannot wait to capture the wonderful, unique and amazing styles of my fellow Aussie Fashionistas/os.
