Greetings, everyone, from gloomy Chicago. While spring has had a hard time actually springing, the inevitability of summer is creeping up on us. Chicago has been characteristically humid and gray while simultaneously being chilly and windy (hold your “windy city” jokes).
Going to school in Chicago opens my fashion-conscious mind every single day and I can’t wait to share that with you. Here in the city, getting dressed up for class is actually the norm, and I couldn’t be more pleased with that. I am going to be a sophomore here at DePaul next year and the plan is to double major in Journalism and PR/Advertising with a minor in Graphic Design; I know, even I’m intimidated.
Fashion-wise, I take a lot of inspiration from fashion bloggers like Christina of Trop Rouge, Andy of Style Scrapbook and Rumi of Fashiontoast. With my love of fashion came an interest in writing and creating anything that allowed me to share my passion. I currently run my own blog, Fashionable Youth, and I began blogging about five or six years ago.
Ever since I can remember, I have been interested in fashion. I even have a memory of a terrible pair of purple pleather pants (say that three times fast, I dare you) that I owned as a child. I have never been one to shy away from fashion risks but my day-to-day style would best be categorized as “blazers and button-downs” meets “cool kid eccentricity.” I love classic pieces, minimalism and a little bit of edge.
The outfit I put together today was bred from a little bit of disdain for the weather and a lot of appreciation for loose fitting pants. I have a strong affinity for this jogger trend and these loose fitting trousers take a lot of inspiration from that. I opted for this high-neck crop top from Topshop that I recently purchased. I decided I was going to try the crop top thing, even though it’s not my personal style. In true me fashion, I topped the look off with a textured longline blazer. For accessories, I went with a nice statement silver collar necklace, a pair of white Birkenstock style sandals and my staple Cambridge satchel.
Here’s to a great summer and a season full of fabulous outfits!
