My name is Michala White and I am happy to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista over the summer semester! I am a sophomore at Michigan State University majoring in Journalism. Writing has always been one of my hobbies and I am very excited to write through fashion blogging.
My love for fashion originated from reading teen magazines and creating sets on the website Polyvore. When I was younger, I would constantly make lookbooks that included collages of different celebrities in their designer clothes and sketches of outfits I wanted to recreate. The lookbooks I created were my guide to deciding what to wear or figuring out how to switch up my style.
One thing that I love most about fashion is that it is all about self-expression. It’s a way of showing your mood and personality through what you are wear. I also love the idea of how each culture has their own sense of fashion. Each individual around the world is different and they have their own twist on fashion. Another thing I like about fashion is you don’t have to constantly wear top designer brands to be considered a Fashionista/o. Anything can inspire your outfit and even the simplest outfits can be fashionable.
My sense of fashion is different every day, but I like to have my own twist on current trends. If you were to look in my closet, you would find sweaters and flannels on the winter side and crop tops and sundresses on the summer side. For the most part, I like to stick to neutral colors but sometimes I like to add a pop of color. Currently, I am obsessed with all white head to toe outfits and jumpers. Today, I decided to celebrate Michigan’s warm weather with a jumper and sandals both from Forever 21. Along with a simple necklace also from Forever 21, I am wearing a handmade copper ring from Costa Rica.
