Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Claire Palmer, and I am going to be a sophomore at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), majoring in Fashion Merchandising Management.
In case you are wondering what exactly my major entails, it is the business side of fashion. For example, I will be involved in marketing, advertising, buying or styling of clothing, accessories, fragrances or shoes. I’m very excited to be studying something that I have been passionate about since I was a little girl. The best part of my college experience is that I get to do it in the best city in the world—New York City!
I’m originally from a small town in Maryland, but the transition to the “big city” was pretty smooth. The hardest parts were definitely learning how to use the subway and being away from my family and friends. However, I made so many great friends at FIT and feel just as at home in the city now.
On any given day you can find me wearing something with a pop of color. My favorite summer clothing piece is without a doubt a simple cami with a lace bralette peaking through. You will never catch me without my signature rings and bracelets. My go-to shoes are platform shoes that give me a little added height and are perfect for long days walking around the city.
What I love most about fashion is that you can express yourself without having to say anything. You can make a statement by the clothing you pick and what you pair it with. I love how it is so personal and unique to each person. I am so excited to be a Style Guru, and to have the opportunity to share and capture all the different trends.
I can’t wait to get out in the city and take pictures of upcoming trends. Check back with me every Thursday for new style inspirations!
