Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Victoria Jones, and I am so glad to be a Style Guru for Loyola University New Orleans this summer. Currently, I am a senior studying Mass Communication and minoring in Marketing. Although my major does not have much to do with fashion, it has always played a big role in my life. Growing up in a city like New Orleans has been wonderful. Around every corner, from the French and Spanish architecture in the French Quarter to brightly painted homes in Mid-City, there is inspiration to be found. Here, color, culture and art create the perfect mix that is New Orleans.
I first took an interest in fashion at an early age. My first “fashion memory” is of my parents on their date nights. My dad’s military background meant he favored classic suits and ties, while my Latin mother preferred bright colors and fun details. I suppose this is where my love of mixing prints and textures with classic shapes came from.
Now that summer is here, social calendars are full of festivals, road trips and adventures in the city. The heat and humidity offer some unique challenges but that does not stop the Fashionistas and Fashionistos out there from bringing the style to the streets.
I cannot wait to bring you articles and style inspiration this summer! I am so excited to be a Style Guru and am looking forward to discovering new trends and styles with you this summer.
