Hey there, Fashionistas! My name is Nicolle Potvin and I just finished my sophomore year at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, just south of Boston. I am a Psychology major and a recently declared Biochemistry minor. I’m extremely passionate about fitness, nutrition, and the psychology behind self-perceived body image, in addition to fashion of course! Fashion has always been an interest of mine because your image is the first thing anyone notices about you: it is your own unique way to display who you are as a person.
I have recently returned home to Warwick, Rhode Island for the summer. Luckily, my hometown is situated in the center of my tiny state, so I get to experience the pleasures of coastal fashion by the beaches of southern Rhode Island and the more exotic styles seen in the city of Providence. This diversity in fashion is especially important to me because my style is distinctly divided. On any given day, I will wake up and dress in one of two ways: either classically preppy or mysteriously chic.
Writing my style biography is a challenge because it is almost as if my style represents too different people: either the bright and bubbly version or the daring and reserved version of myself. For this article I decided to display the part of me that loves light and crisp colors. Considering that it is the summer season, all of this vitamin D is literally shining more light on my preppy style.
In the summer I love to bring out all of my skirts and dresses. Finding new ways to dress up casual summer pieces and playing around with the bright colors that come along with this season is one of my favorite aspects of the summertime. I kept this week’s look simple: keeping the colors crisp and the accessories neutral, perfect for spending an afternoon by the ocean. The two main pieces of this look are the Knit Oxford button-down in Austin Blue from Ralph Lauren and the pleated white skirt from Forever 21. I finished the look with a brown leather belt, a gold watch, and the Hampton’s style sandal from Jack Rodgers USA!
I just recently began working at Banana Republic and I look forward to incorporating their image and accessories into my own style. This is also my first time interning for CollegeFashionista, so I am very excited to experiment with my split styles this summer while incorporating some new pieces from my job into the mix! It is an experience that I look forward to be involved in, while taking my readers along way for the journey! Be sure to check in every Tuesday, Fashionistas!
