Hello fellow Fashionistas! My name is Mackenzie, but most people call me Mack! I will be a sophomore in the fall at Indiana University. I am an Apparel Merchandising major and minoring in Business. This is my first semester at CollegeFashionista and I could not be more excited to be a Style Guru and share my favorite tips and fashion trends with you!
I found my love for fashion somewhere at the beginning of middle school. My neighbors were always into fashion; I would say I picked up my love of it from them. We spent almost every day of our summers together and one day I found myself being dragged into Hollister Co. Shopping before that point was just a necessary yearly trip for new clothes before school started, but that was the shopping trip that opened my eyes. I had always prided myself on being one of the guys, a tomboy, for most of my elementary days. The day they took me shopping though, the world of fashion opened up to me. I started shopping and saving any penny I could find to buy new clothes; to this day I still have that same problem! I’d like to think that I live by the wise words of Carrie Bradshaw, “I like my money right where I can see it… hanging in my closet.” I have always believed in the power of a new outfit, the way it can fill you with confidence and overall brighten your day! Now while I am sad to say I have outgrown my days of Hollister Co., I will always credit them with giving me my love of fashion.
These days I love to shop at Urban Outfitters, Free People, Brandy Melville and H&M. I can usually be found rocking all black outfits; it’s my favorite kind of combo. It makes you look put together even if you’re not, which applies to most college students. My favorite pieces to wear during the summer are dresses; they make it easy to stay cool and comfy when its hot out! T-shirt dresses are showing up everywhere I look lately. They’re super easy to accessorize with bangles or a statement necklace. I always wear my Steve Madden gladiator sandals to tie the look together! In these photos I am wearing a T-shirt dress from Brandy Melville; it’s easy to throw on when I’m in a rush but want to look dressed up a little more than I would with just shorts and a T-shirt.
When I first got the opportunity to be a Style Guru, I decided that I wanted to make my articles about what my friends and classmates saw as fashionable and trendy and how they wear the trends they see. I am so excited to share not only my tips, but fashion tips from the people around me. Everyone has their own unique style and I want to showcase it! I hope you follow along with me on this journey!
