Hello Fashionista/os! My name is Morgan and I’m a rising third-year at the University of Virginia. This is my first time ever writing for CollegeFashionista and I’m so excited to share all of the amazing fashion on grounds, a fancy word we ‘hoos use for ‘campus’, with you this summer! Currently, I’m double majoring in Media Studies and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. But starting this June I’ll also be working on my associate degree in Fashion Merchandising.
In addition to my studies, I have been a fashion/beauty YouTuber for four years now and have also freelanced as a makeup artist for around two years now. Needless to say, I live and breathe fashion; I hope to make a career out of it some day! I also have a passion for languages. I can speak 4 languages (English, Spanish, Korean and Chinese) and hope to learn eight before I die.
In describing my fashion experiments, I would say they probably span back to 6th grade, when my ‘punk’ phase began. I essentially only wore band tees, ripped jeans and studded belts for three years. My style constantly evolved and changed throughout high school. The experiments and uncertainty in my own style came to an end this past year, when I really had the opportunity to define what I wanted my style to be; though admittedly, I still wear too much black. If I had to describe my style, I would say it was “chic but easy”. I’m all about easy to wear pieces, that when styled right, look amazing. I also think it’s important to have statement pieces in your wardrobe, pieces that stand out no matter what they’re paired with: a crazy pair of shoes, fancy dress or my personal favorite, a super rad jacket. I gained a lot of my fashion inspiration from the internet; places like Tumblr, YouTube and various blogs became an ideal image for my own closet.
I truly feel that if I had to live with just three pieces for the rest of my life, they would be my trusty light wash overalls, holy-grail ASOS jeans, and my classic black heels (also from ASOS). These are my all time favorite pieces and I wear them consistently week after week.
I hope you Fashionistas/os are ready for some awesome style pics because I’ll be bringing them to you this summer. So stay tuned for my posts straight from the University of Virginia, every Friday!
