Hello everyone! My name is Kristy Milien and I am going to be a sophomore at the end of this term here at Oregon State University. I am Haitian American and I was born in Boise, Idaho where I have lived basically my whole life. I decided to leave Idaho and come to Oregon State because this university offers a highly ranked merchandising program, which is what I am majoring in now. I dream of first being a visual merchandiser then becoming a buyer. I love the city vibe however, I have yet to pick one I would love to live but I am almost a sophomore so I have a lot of time to decide on that, that’s for sure. This is my first term as a Style Guru and I am super exited to share the wonderful style students have around campus.
I heard about CollegeFashionista through a friend back home who is now going to through this internship at USC. I was ready to apply right when she told me because I love fashion and I was ready to be involved even more. Ever since I was in diapers, I would try on my sister’s clothes and strut around in my mother’s heels. I also remember reading the 2006 Teen Vogue September magazine issue at a store and making my mom subscribe me to that same day to the magazine. I would cut out pictures of the styles I loved and either put them on my wall or put them in a look book of things I wanted. In high school, I worked as a sales associate at Forever 21 and over those two years is when I knew the career path I wanted to take had to be in fashion. Â
I am a very happy person, I love to laugh and I like my style to represent that. The color gold is my absolute favorite color. I love accessorizing with fun necklaces, rings and shoes. My style really varies because I love trying new things. One day I will wear a floor length oversized cardigan with a black twist choker and the next I will wear a tribal bodycon dress and some popping pink lipstick. I also believe that fashion and style doesn’t just signify how well someone dresses or how much money they like to spend but that it can also be that bargain you got on a cute top or dress. Shopping on a budget definitely doesn’t deter you from looking stylish!
I am excited to be a Style Guru because I love seeing people express themselves through their clothing around campus and I am so excited to document it and talk about each unique style.Â
