Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to start my first semester as a Style Guru intern for CollegeFashionista. I think it is a great way for me to go out of my comfort zone and experience something a little different. I’m a first year Communication major and Business minor student at University of California, San Diego. Although it’s always sunny in San Diego, my heart belongs to the Bay Area. I was born and raised in Northern California, and it’s always a factor of my personal style.
I grew up loving fashion and read every tween fashion magazine there was. I’ve always enjoyed dressing up, but my interest in blogs and fashion skyrocketed in high school when I joined my high school journalism class. I worked as editor-in-chief for two years, which really helped me realize what I truly enjoy.
How I dress changes with my moods; I have no problem wearing an all-black ninja-inspired outfit one day and a pink ballerina tutu the next. I feel that fashion is a creative outlet as well as a way for people to tell others a little about who they are without speaking. As a freshman in college, the wardrobe possibilities are seemingly endless, as there are virtually no dress restrictions. I am free to express myself however I wish through what I wear, and I really appreciate that.
In my outfit, I am wearing a baby pink crop top, rust colored trousers, black sandals with thick straps and a tattoo choker necklace. Trousers are the perfect lightweight pants for the current breezy San Diego weather, and I paired them with a light pink crop top to create a slight contrast in color and texture. Black sandals are my go-to shoes, and this pair features a comfy flatform. I almost never leave the house without my tattoo choker necklace, and I feel that it gives a nostalgic ’90s vibe to every outfit I wear.
UCSD is undoubtedly a very fashionable campus. I see people every day with interesting outfits, and I can’t help but want to talk to them about it. Now that I’m a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, I have no reason not to!
