Hello Fashionistas/os my name is Jordan. I’m a 19 year-old style obsessed fashion student studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the Big Apple. Wow! So, where should I even begin? Well first off, my passion for everything fashion started at a young age when I watched my first ever Project Runway episode. I was instantly fascinated by how an idea could be transformed into something tangible and something that you could wear. It was from that moment on that I took it upon myself to learn everything about the industry that I one day aspired to be a part of.
Early on, sometime around middle school, I heard about classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology called Summer Live courses. They were month long classes in different subject areas within the fashion industry. I enrolled in a fashion illustration course as well as color theory, and I had the time of my life. I met so many amazing people and learned so many things, which at such a young age was a great opportunity. My passion didn’t stop there. More times than I could remember, I would take my fashion magazines and tear them apart page by page. It sounds a little crazy, I know, but I transformed those pages into mood boards and collages. I found inspiration and taught myself how to draw just by looking at images.
When my senior year of high school came I decided to take the yearbook journalism class at my school. I always enjoyed writing from when I was younger; however, it was through this class that I developed my writing skills more. I also learned how to take pictures to tell a story to accompany the words on a page. When it came time to apply for colleges I was quite unsure at the time of the direction in which I wanted to go. I went a little off the path I had imagined for myself and wound up at St. Francis College. After finding out that it wasn’t the right fit for me, I applied to the Fashion Institute of Technology which I knew in my heart was where I was meant to be. The day I received my acceptance letter in the mail was the day that my dream came true.
So here I am today, two years into my college experience and loving every minute of it. I am currently finishing up my Associate’s Degree and enrolling in my Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising Management with aspirations to work as a product developer.
I am so excited to have this opportunity to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I can’t wait to make memories, learn along the way and hopefully inspire some fellow Fashionistas/os as well as my readers. I look forward to having you read my stories, and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
