Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Tori, I will be entering my junior year at Kean University in Union New Jersey, studying Communications: Public Relations. I’m thrilled to announce my first semester at CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru. I’m excited to document this summer’s street style and share it all with my fellow Fashionistas/os.
My style is mainly simple, but chic. I find such beauty in simplicity; with the right items you can look as fierce as Beyoncé Knowles. Over the past year, my style has evolved a great deal. I have acquired slight obsession with the basics. A white T-shirt, chambray shirt and black jeans are just a few of the items that I live and die by. Waking up to go to work and school can be difficult. But with my basics, I always feel ready for a photo.
During the fall and spring semesters you can usually catch me in all black with a slick, low ponytail. In my black on black I feel neat, confident, and ready for my day. In my opinion, an all black outfit is something you cannot go wrong with.
I get inspiration from everywhere. It sounds so cliché, but it really is true! My eyes are always open and searching for it. It can come from my mom or even my younger brother, who is truly coming into his own style. To be completely honest, I can’t commit to one style. I’m still trying to figure it out; some days I’ll give grunge and others I’ll give chic or my secret fave boho.
Since the change in weather I’ve been trying new things—embracing neutrals, creams and blush colors. When rocking these colors I feel feminine and refreshed. Since the new direction I’m going in is the complete opposite, I have to figure out what works for me and if I like it. I know it won’t compare to my all time classic black on black outfit, but it could make its way up to second place.
So this summer my goal is to have my readers excited about all types of styles, whether it be grunge or ‘90s. I want to hear about peoples’ inspiration and motivation to creating their own looks.
I really want to keep an open mind when searching for street style—looking for the beauty in everything and not just migrating to the styles I’ll feel most comfortable in. So if your style is on point and I catch you in the streets, watch out ladies and gents. I may need to take a quick flick and talk about it.
Let’s have a stylish summer!
