Hello! My name is Veronica and I’m a summer away from starting my junior year at James Madison University. I’m a Media Arts and Design major with a converged media concentration, and a Nonprofit Studies minor. Over the past two years of college, I have learned many things (as one would hope), and one of them has been that I, contrary to prior belief, am actually very much interested in clothes and fashion.
When I was little, I liked to dress up and was often found in skirts and dresses. I’m not sure at what point, but somewhere between elementary and middle school I stopped caring about my outfit choices. Thinking back, my reason for abandoning dresses could have been a quick growth spurt that caused me to enter an “awkward, lanky” phase that I considered to be completely unsuitable for dresses, and that I haven’t fully grown out of (to be honest). But that’s beside the point.
Throughout middle school and much of high school, my daily wardrobe consisted of T-shirts and jeans with a few not-so-stylish blouses here and there. Thankfully around my junior year of high school, my interest in fashion slowly rekindled. By the end of my senior year, I had dipped my toes into the world of fashion blogs and websites, although most of my fashion bug back then consisted of me watching beautycrush outfit videos on Youtube and browsing through the Topshop website for hours. Today, my style focuses mainly on comfort, as well as a newfound love for denim.
To be quite honest I have to thank my friends for helping me regain my interest in fashion. I have been blessed (#blessed?) with close friends that are some of the most stylish and fearless dressers I know, and have helped me see the importance of knowing how to dress oneself. About a year ago I was able to convince those friends to start a fashion blog, and so Style Syringe was created (in case you’re questioning the name, the main face of the blog is a pre-med student). Unfortunately, due to the fact that we attend different universities, meeting up for pictures and staying consistent with our posts became difficult and the blog came to an end.
Thankfully, shortly afterward, I found CollegeFashionista, which has given me the opportunity to showcase a bit of my reborn sense of style as well as the style I see around me. I am incredibly excited for this opportunity and I hope you decide to join me through what is sure to be a trend-filled summer.
