Hey there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Alyssa Boddicker and I am going to be a junior at the University of Minnesota majoring in Professional Journalism with a minor in Retail Merchandising and I am so thrilled to be Style Guru this summer for CollegeFashionista. I have always loved fashion ever since I got in trouble for bringing my purse onto to the soccer field when I was six, then being told it was not the right time or place to accessorize. Since then, from taking plentiful amounts of design and art classes, as well as attending Teen Vogue Fashion University with seminars from Nicole Richie and the founders of jewelry company Dannijo, I have been inspired to make fashion a permanent part of my life (and to still appreciate fashion in unconventional places like soccer fields).
My current style inspirations, like many of my fellow millennials, come from social media. Bloggers, as well as their Instagram accounts, my favorites being Cara Loren and WeWoreWhat show clothes (and lifestyles) I lust over. I’ve even gotten to the point where I follow WeWoreWhat’s Danielle Bernstiein’s French bulldog on Instagram, as well (his name is Bleecker and he’s adorable).
Another huge place for fashion inspiration for me is music festivals. From attending Lollapalooza and We Fest and seeing these outfits first hand, to stalking any and all Coachella pictures, the freedom of fashion experimentation in music festivals is unparalleled and lead to what I think are some of the biggest trends today.
So, follow me on my journey to explore the ever-changing world of fashion as it happens on my campus and as I share it with the rest of the world. It’s going to be a fun and fashionable ride!
