I’m McKenzie Butler, a Texas Christian University senior in the Neeley School of Business and your new CollegeFashionista Style Guru. At present, I am working to obtain my finance degree; however, my obsession has always been fashion. And because I love to feed my obsession, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share current trends and show you how to incorporate them into your very own personal style.
Because of my “OFF,” “obsession for fashion,” I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities to gain experience within this crazy industry. Obviously, the perfect opportunity to express my love for fashion is being your New York City Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this summer!
I was born and raised in Texas, something only us Texans can understand and claim. However, I have forever been a city girl at heart, continually seeking inspiration from the many city styles seen throughout the streets of New York, styles that I can honestly confess completely take my breath away.
From as far back as I can remember, fashion has been something that was easy, almost second nature. I must; however, give my mom some credit, as she began her career with Neiman Marcus and taught me from a young age everything she knows. From strutting my stuff in Mom’s high heels as a young girl, to having just returned from a semester abroad in Italy, every opportunity in between has been an experience which has only furthered my love for and knowledge of fashion.
When asked to describe my personal style, I often have difficulty narrowing it down to one specific category. I am obsessed with testing out new looks, from boho to city-chic. Because style is a personal expression, I feel it’s perfectly okay to experiment with different looks in order to determine what best fits your personality. That being said, you can be sure to see a wide variety of trends on my reports this summer.
Like Oscar de la Renta once said: “Fashion is a trend, style is within a person.” My love for fashion and desire to develop my own personal style continues to grow each day. As it does, I look forward to being a part of the CollegeFashionista team, while sharing my style and the styles of my peers with the world. Be sure to check back with me every Wednesday for your weekly fix of all things fashion!
