I’m Kiara, and I am thrilled to be starting my very first semester with the CollegeFashionista team! I’m currently an upcoming senior at Syracuse University majoring in Fashion Design. I also have a concentration in the Fashion and Beauty Communications Milestone program at Syracuse, and last semester I studied abroad at the London College of Fashion. I am still in utter denial that this year will be my final year as a college student, and I have to be an “adult”—yikes!
I have always had a love for fashion since I can remember. As I watched shows on Disney Channel as a little girl, all I ever wondered is where the actresses that were my idols bought their clothes, and where I can get the same outfit. Growing up, I was not sure if I really wanted to be part of the fashion world though, but when I started applying to colleges everything just fell into place, and that’s why I am writing to you all now as a Style Guru! I love discovering new trends and combining different types of styles together to make a whole new look. I hope to one day become a stylist or possibly work for a magazine.
My personal style really depends on my mood. But, I would describe it as simple, yet girly. I can be extremely girly wearing some gladiators, boyfriend jeans, a pastel colored blazer or, it can be a bit more urban. I also can be the total opposite of that all and, you can find me in my whole workout attire wearing sneakers, tank tops and, leggings; I love working out! But one thing I always have been known for and love is accessorizing. I used to work at Alex and Ani part-time so that is one of the reasons I love it, but even in high school I always accessorized. I feel as if accessorizing can make the simplest outfit just stand out more.
This summer I am excited to see where life takes me. Although I won’t be at Syracuse University this summer, I will be finding new Fashionistas/os every week in the Hamptons, which is where I live, and New York City as well because I will hopefully end up getting an internship there for the summer.
