Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Savannah Rehr and I am currently a senior at Illinois State University. This is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I am beyond excited to share my articles with you this summer!
As a student at Illinois State University, I am double majoring in Apparel Merchandising and Psychology. Psychology has been an interest of mine since high school, but fashion has been an interest since I was a little girl. I never just played “dress-up;” I styled and accessorized every outfit and wore each one with pride and confidence. My creativity is shown not just through fashion, but through every aspect of my life and I intend on continuing to expose my creativity through my articles.
When I am not at the gym, I am blogging about fashion and life advice or reading anything from fashion books to classic novels at Starbucks with a coffee in hand. I have traveled to every state in the United States and traveling to France, Italy, England and Greece to study their fashion trends and cultures are on my bucket list. After graduation, I plan on moving to Los Angeles or New York City to continue my career in the fashion industry in one of my favorite cities in the United States. Every day, I immerse myself in this industry by writing, reading and wearing outfits that I personally style and even giving advice about fashion. When I worked at Von Maur, I acquired substantial experience with styling using the mannequins and the merchandise in the junior department. Additionally, I style outfits for my posts on my personal blog’s fashion page.
Alexander McQueen once said, “I design clothes because I don’t want women to look all innocent and naïve…I want women to look stronger…I want people to be afraid of the women I dress.” This exact quote demonstrates why Alexander McQueen is one of my fashion idols; he understands how powerful women are and how to exhibit that power through his designs. My mission in the fashion industry is to continue showing the world how fierce women are and to demonstrate why they should never be underestimated.
