My name is Jenna Tipple, and I am beyond excited to begin my first-ever summer internship with CollegeFashionista! This fall, I will be a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I’m pursuing a degree in Retailing as well as certificates in Business and Entrepreneurship.
I have loved fashion since I was a little girl, although I don’t really think I am the most fashionable person. My style has changed so much throughout the years; I went through a stage of only wearing dresses when I was a toddler to strictly wearing my brother’s zip-off cargo pants in my elementary school years. After that, I was super trendy, layering camis and graphic T-shirts and always sporting one of my many pairs of Sketchers. Fortunately, my sense of style has evolved greatly since then, and I love browsing Pinterest and fashion blogs to stay up-to-date on current trends.
I like to think of my life in phases, especially when looking at how my sense of style has transformed. Currently, I’m in a phase of simplicity—I like neutral pieces with pops of color, and comfort trumps all. I’m in love with the destroyed denim trend right now, although my dad continues to question my sanity when he realizes I actually paid real money for ripped jeans. Converse are my go-to pair of shoes, whether I’m running errands or spending a night out with friends. I guess they have come to replace Sketchers, seeing as I own more pairs of Chuckies than any normal human being should. A nice, flowy cardigan is one of my favorite pieces as well, and I love its versatility for all seasons and occasions. I’m never without cute and simple jewelry pieces too, whether it be a necklace, layered bracelets or tiny, stackable rings. The “608” necklace I am wearing here was a recent DIY project of mine: it’s the area code of my hometown, Madison, and I never take it off because I think the smallest, personal touches can make the biggest difference in an outfit. Last but not least, I wear sunglasses whenever I can—they have become a guilty pleasure of mine. They are the perfect accessory for any outfit and can really complete a look. Flash lenses are really trending right now and are great for adding a pop of color to your wardrobe too!
When it comes to picking out my daily outfits, I am the most indecisive person you will ever meet, and I always revert back to picking my favorite, comfy, neutral pieces. Sometimes I think that means I’m boring or have no sense of style, but I think that is a sense of style all on its own, and it’s my sense of style right now. I’ve made it my personal resolution to take more fashion risks this year and beyond, and I’m really looking forward to this summer with CollegeFashionista to help me explore the world of fashion in a new and creative way.
