Hello, any and all avid readers of this. I’m Courtney, and I’m here to tell you that thrift store pajama pants are entirely acceptable articles of clothing for your fashion-forward lifestyle—as long as you hike them up to your waist and finish it off with a chunky belt.
I’m currently residing in the state of dairy and all things deep-fried, otherwise known as Wisconsin. Though it may not be the fashion capital of the world, the state’s capital is home to many well-dressed hippies along with a ton of young, chic professionals.
I have yet to decide on a major at UW-Madison, and though I’m far too old to be in that situation and will more than likely graduate when I’m around 30, I’m pretty stoked about life right now. I’m currently managing an architectural design office and running a portrait photography business, C. Kessler Photo, as well as starting out this summer as a Style Guru.
My style is pretty weird and often described as eclectic or spontaneous, and that’s pretty accurate. Although I have the utmost respect for high-end fashion and its elegance and creative merit, I’d much rather throw on a 40 cent top from a second-hand store and layers of jewelry a la Iris Apfel. Maybe I’ll throw on an all black ensemble the next day if I’m feeling like I need to bring out my inner boss lady.
The best part of fashion to me is being able to make the decision each day to look and feel awesome. A good outfit can set your mood for the whole day. In this outfit, I’m channeling my most inner me with a crop top, a double finger ring to rule all double finger rings and a flowy skirt that is the most comfortable piece of clothing (and bonus—it also has pockets). I also tend to be barefoot as soon as the weather physically allows for it, and am a huge advocate for it whenever possible.
