Happy summer everyone! My name is Anna Brickman and I am a sophomore Communications major at Fordham University. I am beyond excited to be spending the summer as a Style Guru. I have always viewed fashion as an outlet for creativity that is infinitely evolving through experience, environment and exposure, which I think is so cool. I can’t wait to jump into sharing my take on all things fashion with you this summer.
Textiles and fashion merchandising have always been areas that I’m drawn to. During my junior and senior years of high school, I worked at a boutique that carried some of my favorite brands such as Lovers and Friends, Elizabeth & James and Haute Hippie. It was a great outlet for me considering I spent every school day since kindergarten in a frumpy uniform.
I would say that my style today is pretty extensive. I feel it isn’t exactly one you can pinpoint to a specific category. Although, no matter what end of any spectrum my outfit may be on, it’s almost always versatile, comfy and expressive. I’m a big believer in dressing to express rather than impress. Today, some of the people whose sense of style I admire are Negin Mirsalehi, Blair Eadie and Leandra Medine. I have a feeling that one of the reasons I am drawn to these particular women and how they dress is based hugely on their will to carry themselves in such a confident way.
Living in New York City this past year has been a style overload. I often found myself perusing the streets of SoHo or wandering around Lincoln Center admiring every well-dressed person that walked by. Even at Fordham, I find myself so impressed by everyone’s unique take on fashion, which has helped me push myself to keep finding my own. And what better place to start than at CollegeFashionista?
Again, I am ecstatic about this opportunity and cannot wait to see what this summer adventure has in store.
