Hola! My name is Melissa Rodríguez and I am from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. A few things to know about me: I am a passionate girl with Latin flavor inside, extremely excited to be a Style Guru this summer and love to travel and take pictures of everything that catches my eye. I am a rising sophomore at Villanova University where I am majoring in Business. Even though I just finished freshman year, I still don’t know what I want to concentrate in while in the Business School. However, I do know that I am passionate about fashion and that it is something that will hopefully be a part of me forever. I’ve always been known for using my creativity in everything that I do, so I hope that with my articles I will be able to incorporate that creativity and inspire you with them.
Being a latina in the States was certainly a different and awesome experience for me. I was able to show my unique style around campus (which ranges from boho to edgy to girly) and at the same time not be afraid to do so. While I was in Pennsylvania, I was able to observe and learn the different styles of each season, given the fact that in Puerto Rico it is summer all year long. Also, this made picking out outfits every morning into a fun challenge and an opportunity to show my passion for fashion. After all, I never had to think about wearing coats and boots while I was at home and coming to the States definitely gave me some perspective and insight into what is trending each season.
This summer I will become your lookout for the one of a kind and diverse style here in Puerto Rico. I know that I will learn a great deal from this experience and gain inspiration from the street style here.
