Hey Fashionistas/os! I’m Sherrell Wilkerson, a fourth year student at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University studying Magazine Productions and Photography.
Fashion has always sparked my interest, so when it became more of a passion, I knew that CollegeFashionista would be the perfect place for me to share what I love and gain growth in my own process. I am so excited to show off the diverse fashion scene that embodies the seven hills of FAMU. Jumping at the chance to be a Style Guru now gives me so much more purpose when asking these stylish students about their outfits or where they shop than just adding on to my closet! FAMU is full of personality and I know I am going to have the best time being a Style Guru for our campus.
Like many, it took me time to develop into the Fashionista that I am today. I always knew that I wanted my style to stand out; however, I was not always the best at translating my true expressions into my ensembles. With being a Style Guru, my biggest hope is to help others who may be in that same position. Once you realize what you like and how to fit it on your body to make it what you love, your rise as a Fashionista/o cannot be stopped. I am huge fan of our generation bringing back the ’90s. If I could find my mother’s wardrobe from her days at FAMU, my life would be complete. I personally lean towards a vintage meets editorial girl look when I’m out on campus, running errands or even a night out with girls. I love patterns, denim and especially doing a monochromatic look with earth tone colors, which are all always in abundance at Thrift Store. I love that place by the way! My must-have items for when I find myself in a hurry, include my oversized men’s flannel, distressed light denim jeans, a plain white T-shirt with my white Converse All-Stars and trusty brown side bag.
Aside from being a full time student, I spend much of time at different parks and trails in Tallahassee. This city is full of hidden natural landscapes that work for the perfect photo shoot or taking a mid-day walk with some friends followed by sandwiches and smoothies. Yummy, I know!
I can already tell that it is going to be a great summer! I am excited to share everything that I have and to get to know all of you awesome Fashionistas/os out there. Feel free to follow my blog, sherrellpatrice.tumblr.com and my Instagram @ellorello to keep up with my other escapades as a Fashionista, and remember, as Coco Chanel said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
