Hi my name is Jabari Hendricks and I am a junior at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. I recently changed my major from Fashion Merchandise with a minor in Marketing to English with a track in Rhetoric and Writing, with a split minor in Philosophy and Psychology. This is my first year interning with College Fashionista.
I was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri and lived in Dallas, Texas for over five years. Growing up in the city has allowed me not only see the world on an international perspective, but to surround myself in the art world. After graduating high school in 2012, I was given the opportunity to freelance as a makeup artist and in 2013 I accepted my letter to attend TWU.
At first, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. After a semester of working at the TWU Lasso, a weekly student publication of TWU, I found that I wanted to write/shoot photos of fashion more than to work with clothing. And interning for CollegeFashionista is allowing me to do so. I have been given the opportunity to also film my own documentary and to start up an underground magazine that caters to raw and upcoming artist in the Dallas area.
My style can be described as “eclectic” and “unconventional” as fashion holds my gender. From my summer internship I hope not only to strengthen my craft as a journalist, but to bring cultural awareness and artistic flare to TWU. Stay connected and embark on a journey with me of documenting all things all beautiful.
