Greetings, Fashionistos and Fashionistas! My name is Fred Lam, and I am a rising junior at New York University. This will be my first opportunity writing for CollegeFashionista and I am really looking forward to it.
Although I am studying Biochemistry, I still find time to keep up with the latest trends and have wholesome conversations with my friends about all the current events in fashion. My passion for both fields is so strong that I feel like I need to be doing something for both of them. As a result, I found that this organization would help further my quest for expressing the love I have for fashion.
I’m so excited to be a part of this program because it gives me a chance to really express my ideas. Being born and raised in the simple south to receiving a higher-level education in a diverse city has given me a really unique taste on how to dress. I feel that both regions have great aspects to offer and I wish to balance them together in a distinct style. They have definitely impacted the way I dress, and I hope to elucidate the readers to their different characteristics.
Personally, the idea of style revolves around what is on my feet. In my opinion, a whole outfit can be ruined if what is at the bottom just does not work. Therefore, the foundation of my wardrobe is usually built from the ground up. As for the articles of clothing themselves, I try to go with a minimalist approach by having the base colors of my outfit either be a black, gray, white, navy, etc. with a few touches of colors here and there. The idea here is to look clean and sharp, rather than flashy and forced. Along with casual wear, I am also a strong advocate of athletic wear. I believe if worn correctly, it can be infused in a way to make an aesthetically pleasing outfit. Lastly, everything I wear must be fitted properly. We have all got bodies that we strive to keep in good shape and condition, so let us not allow poorly fitting clothes to prevent us from showing off our hard work (especially in the summer)!
My main goals this summer are to gain some fashion tips myself from other Fashionistas and Fashionistos and share my ideas with the community.
