STYLE GURU STYLE: Strike 'em With Stripes

Michael Kors never seems to fail with his classic and flawless looks. In his pre-fall 2015 fashion show, he features timeless skirts, knee-length dresses and tailored pants to keep his look perfect for any career setting or even an everyday look. Every piece was easy and unforced, particularly the horizontal stripes of the dresses and sweaters. Most people are scared away from the horizontal-striped look due to their unflattering reputation, but Michael Kors proved that to be untrue time and time again. By pairing the striped pieces with bold colors or keeping them simple with black and white, it is a runway look that can be achieved by anyone without having to be scared.

I really enjoyed the classic look that Michael Kors kept within his collection and wanted to recreate it on my own, with some minor adjustments based on my wardrobe choices. Although his pieces are aimed towards the fall, I thought that they could easily be converted into a summer trend because of the colorful patterns he chose. The base of my ensemble is a light, flowing black and gray-striped summer dress from Marshalls. As much as I loved the colorful stripes he included in his collection, I opted for the more traditional look of neutral colors and instead incorporated an accent purse to make the outfit stand out. To finish off the look, I paired the my outfit with my new favorite pair of black, chunky sandals, some rounded, trendy sunglasses and to tie it all in, a simple yet flashy gold necklace to add my own personal flare.

Although my look is not entirely the same as Michael Kors pre-fall 2015 collection, I really liked how my outfit came together. This is why fashion is so great; you can take one look and recreate to fit your own personal and unique appearance that really expresses your own personality.

Get My Look: 1. A striped summer dress. 2. A pair of chunky, black sandals. 3. Large leather purse.
