Summer may as well have started weeks ago in New York City with temperatures rising over 85 degrees. I was definitely feeling it (my dorm had no AC!), and everyone’s clothes showed it too. Out went the stuffy jackets and tall boots, and in came the dresses and sandals.
However, the weather in Manhattan is nothing if not temperamental, and it isn’t uncommon to have days below 65 degrees once in a while. It’s far too presumptuous to store away the jeans and light jackets. This Fashionista stopped me in my tracks with her stylish outfit and edgy accessories.
She gave the regular jeans and T-shirt ensemble quite an upgrade. Small rips in the knees are fun without going overboard. A leather jacket is this Fashionista’s go-to, adding personality while keeping her warm. While her outfit is already super cute and easygoing, it’s her accessories that take it to the next level.
Burgundy boots add a pop of subdued color, and the pebbled texture and double zippers add extra elements of interest. Her favorite piece is her Alexander McQueen skull scarf. It’s stylish and injects so much character into any outfit she puts together. She loves using it to take a day outfit to nighttime.
She finishes off her outfit with sunglasses and jewelry. Her gold necklaces and rings contrast with the silver zippers on her boots in such a cool way. Her blue nail polish adds another small touch of color to an almost entirely neutral outfit.
How To: You can steal her style by layering lots of jewelry. Her secret? Those necklaces aren’t actually three individual necklaces, but instead it is one. You can get a similar necklace here. Mixing metals is a bold statement, and is very easy. Lastly, get her look with a tough scarf to pull your outfit together.
