Hello my dearest Fashionistas! This season was a little confusing with some days being 70 degrees and others being 55 degrees. How do you dictate what season of clothing to go with when it’s those awkward in-between months? Mix the two together. Having fun with flannels is one of my favorite things to do no matter what the season! In the in-between days where it’s too chilly to go jacket-less but still a little warm for your winter jacket, a flannel is just the fit.
When I look for Fashionistas/os around campus I love to find people with a unique style who put unique pieces together that you wouldn’t see normally. This season was filled with many flannels, whether they had hoods, bright colors or if they were being worn around the waist or as a shirt. Flannels skyrocketed to the top of the trend list for that fix of ‘90s nostalgia.
This Fashionista took the “grunge” look of the flannel to the opposite side of the spectrum with this gorgeous metallic top, gold statement necklace, distressed jeans and tan suede booties. The metallic shirt adds a touch of femininity to the look with the necklace that dresses it up a bit. I love how a messy side braid was added to tie it all together (pun not intended, ha ha…).
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to pair items in your closet together that wouldn’t normally jump to your attention in the first place. In most of my own looks I like to add a little feminine touch as well as something a little more edgy, in this case the flannel and distressed jeans. Some of the best outfits are worn with confidence and creativity! Rock what you want; don’t let the current trends dictate what your day-to-day outfits look like.”
