STYLE GURU STYLE: Color of Femininity

For most, school is out and summer is here; therefore, summer style is in full swing. When I think of summer, I immediately think of casual and loose dresses. Anything that allows me to feel comfortable and confident is a go-to outfit for the warmer weather. Breathable and feminine/flirty dresses do the trick for me. In Rebecca Taylor’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, she brought back the feminine and fragile style. Her pieces with ruffles and pleats fluttered across the runway and gave the breathable feel I look for. This is true especially during the warmer months.

When looking through this fashion show, I realized the flirty and feminine look was achieved through the color and fabric choices. Similarly, for the warmer weather I chose a light blue/green loose dress from a boutique I purchased at the beach. I paired it with a feminine laced razorback gray bralette from Aerie and plain brown sandals from Target. I finished off the look with simple pieces of delicate jewelry really add to the feminine style.

Although Rebecca’s runway styles are feminine and flirty, not all of them suit everyday college life. My twists on this femininity include adding more casual pieces and intricate jewelry such as rings, bracelets and layered necklaces. I feel confident enough to wear a feminine outfit when it is comfortable and cool, rather than tight and hot. This look works for any summer occasion whether it be a lunch or a family gathering because it is versatile.

By studying Rebecca Taylor’s runway style, I was inspired to channel my inner girly side with my own personal style incorporated. When I can incorporate my own style, I feel much more confident and feminine!

Get My Look: 1. A casual dress. 2. A laced bralette. 3. Delicate layered jewelry.
