For obvious reasons, kate spade is one of my all-time favorite designers. She uses crisp color, graphic prints and playful sophistication as the hallmarks of her collections. Not only am I in love with her clothing line, but I also adore her novelty handbags and adorable dainty jewelry. Oh, and how could I forget to mention her oh-so cute stationery and desk accessories. Kate’s exuberant approach to the everyday encourages personal style with a dash of incandescent charm, something the Kate Spade team likes to call “living colorfully”.
In kate spade new york’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I noticed a lot of very stylish, yet laid-back and relaxed fits. Along with the very trendy leisurely look, I took note of all the collars, cutouts, stripes and bold prints and colors that really pop! Looking fashionable is a must, but being comfortable during the hot and humid spring and summer months is just as important. This kate spade collection does a fabulous job at making sure that stylish always meets comfort.
A lot of kate’s pieces are on the simpler, more minimalistic side of things, which makes her look very easy to replicate while still staying within your budget. Pair a pleated blouse that has a super cute Peter Pan collar with your favorite pair of jeans and simple flats for a fun night out on the town with the girls. Or sport a striped fit and flare dress with wedges for a perfect outfit for a dinner date with the boyfriend.
To rock my own kate-inspired look, I paired a white chiffon tank top that has a perforated faux leather Peter Pan collar with a classic pair of olive colored ankle pants. Per kate spade’s suggestions, this outfit would call for a pair of flats. However, I’m not a huge fan when it comes to flats, so I decided to put my own twist on it by throwing on a pair of black bootie heels instead. I accessorized with a silver wrist cuff, my Fossil watch and my awesome hashtag necklace. The outfit was tied together with a pair of stylish shades and my Fossil Sydney Satchel to hold all of my daily must-haves including my favorite matte lip color, my Canon point-and-shoot camera and of course, my Stella & Dot tech wallet.
This laid-back, yet sophisticated style is very easy to achieve for an everyday look. Just keep in mind that when you’re trying to recreate a kate spade inspired outfit from this collection, the main focus is to be relaxed and comfortable!
