WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

Brunch is great during the summer; there is no need to set an alarm, but you can still order eggs while your friend is getting French fries. Another great thing about brunch is the wide range of possibility when it comes to attire. Brunch isn’t automatically casual, nor is it formal enough for anyone to expect the Queen to stop by, but it does have its drawbacks. One downside can be when Fashionistos and Fashionistas have no idea what side of the spectrum their friends will be on when they arrive, and that is the reason I like to keep my brunch outfits on the corner of Casual Street and Dressy Boulevard, like this Fashionista.

Although this Fashionista chose black on black basics, she is wearing a flowy, patterned blouse to keep her outfit from being plain. Patterns lie on tricky territory, but when they’re paired with basics like go-to black skinnies and strappy sandals, they’re good to go. This way, the outfit isn’t simple enough to not be considered fashionable, and it’s also quick and easy enough to throw together for anyone that got a late start. A key element in this outfit is her purse. It’s not bulky, so she can use the long strap like she would use for a crossover bag, and it can hold her wallet, keys or anything she needed to grab while running out the door. If it starts to drag behind, all this Fashionista would need to do is throw the long strap in the bag and use the short straps, and suddenly she’s rocking a different purse.

One Simple Change: Whether we like it or not, summer heat is a factor in our outfit choices. If rising heat is ever an issue, then the pants could easily be swapped for dressy shorts for a summer look.
