I would just like to say that summer makeup is a struggle. High temperatures and humid, sticky weather can make for a slick, hardly attractive drip of foundation accompanied by raccoon eyes and lipstick smears. I love traveling, but despise when my makeup does the same.
For all of you that feel my pain, follow this lovely Fashionista that is pulling off summer makeup fabulously. I love that pop of color on her lips. It makes a seemingly simple outfit based in very neutral hues feel brighter. Also can we talk about her outfit for a moment? Her maxi makes me want to cover myself in henna, grab a floral crown and take off to a music festival! It’s very casual, super comfortable and still allows for her personality and sense of style to shine through! The key to pulling off a maxi without feeling drowned in fabric is to pick something with clean lines that is cut a bit more closely to the body. The neutral tones of this dress and accompanying sandals are very bohemian and unfussy—they make the perfect foundation for the pop of pink on her lips.
Another great thing about opting for a bright, matte lip look is that it will stay all day and makes a bold statement— which means less makeup is necessary (excuse me while I happy dance). A bit of mascara and eyeliner let her eyes pop and the perfect amount of bronzer gives a beautiful glow, as if she’s lighting up from the inside. For those of you that have more trouble in the sun—or who are petrified of it like me (remember your SPF, ladies and gentlemen)! Bronzer is a wonderful way to add some color without piling on the product. All in all, this Fashionista is perfectly prepped for summer; her makeup isn’t going anywhere!
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: I recommend a moisturizing, buttery gloss with lots of pigment— it can be reapplied but won’t smear or smudge. For those of you who want something more heavy duty, a stain will stay all day with minimum fuss. Waterproof mascara will prevent raccoon eyes. Just add on a bit of blush for a perfectly natural flush!
