With the busy schedule I usually have, a problem I constantly seem to encounter is pulling off the cute and effortlessly casual look. Even when I have a day off I’m running errands or meeting up with friends for lunch dates. Going from place to place involves going from different settings, such as inside to outside and morning into evening. Being the procrastinator I am, I’m also running late nine times out of 10. This leaves me with little to no time to change when I’m on the go.
In preparation for days like these, since they come often, I try to put outfits together that can transition into whatever may come up! I enjoy being comfortable, however, like most girls I want to look put together.
High-waisted shorts are a perfect option when aiming for effortlessness and comfort. There are so many different styles and washes, giving Fashionista’s options when deciding to go from “Coachella Queen” to “Daisy Duke Babe”. The Fashionista pictured above found her dark wash denim at Nordstrom along with the folded edges paired with the simple brown belt made her outfit look clean and crisp. These shorts are that go-to pair you grab for every time you’re running errands during the day and the same pair you grab for when you make dinner plans last minute.
Paired with the high-waisted shorts, this Fashionista chose a collared button-down tank top from Marshalls. I loved this solid olive colored top as it complemented her skin tone nicely while pulling a preppy look into her ensemble. The collar and buttons give her top just enough detail so a necklace isn’t necessary. Tucking her shirt in added a nice touch as well as this small detail helped to give off a dressier feel, rather than if she had chosen to leave it out and flowing.
Going off the idea of staying casual, the Fashionista wore moccasin-inspired sandals. Wearing an open-toed shoe like her’s makes laps around the mall a breeze and the option to get a pedicure, actually possible. The bohemian-style tassels on top of her shoe are eye-catching, turning heads with every step. I honestly wanted to drive to Forever 21 the second I saw them as they have a place in my closet (and my wallet) currently waiting for them.
One Simple Change: Going from casual daytime activities to dinner with your girlfriends? Dress this look up by adding a fun pair of wedges or heels and chandelier earrings. If you’re feeling extra glam, be adventurous by trying a floppy hat to top it off!
