Hi there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Nicole Echevarria and I’m a senior at the University of Miami. I am studying Elementary Education with minors in Public Relations and Strategic Communications, and this is my third semester writing for CollegeFashionista.
Oh, how time flies! Growing up, I’ve sort of lived a double life being that I’ve split my time between Miami and New York, two cities that couldn’t be anymore opposite. However, while traveling back and forth every couple months, I got to experience the varying differences in people’s cultures and how it influences everything from their vision on fashion to their daily routines—and that is what guided me down the Fashionista path I’m on now.
Over the course of the past year, I was able to learn more about myself and my place in the fashion world, especially through this internship and I couldn’t be more thankful for that. Because of this, I’ve been fortunate enough to gain experience in the industry through various opportunities such as working several shows during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, attending a fashion public relations conference, and landing an internship for the summer at a top ranked fashion app in New York called Keep.
As for my sense of style, as it is ever-changing, whenever I’m in New York I pick up a more bold and eclectic vibe. Hence my present outfit, an all-black ensemble with a twist! I decided to contrast my high slit top with mesh paneling with my beaded fringe maxi skirt. Since the fabric of the maxi skirt is cut with a free flowing style I wanted to pair it with a top that was more structured to give it a flirty edge. I finished off the look with suede black wedges, my favorite gold Michael Kors watch and my mom’s vintage Chanel necklace.
Through this internship, I hope to capture all the wonder and magic that is the city that never sleeps, especially through the killer street styles. I can’t wait to embark on this next adventure with you guys! Catch up with me every Wednesday for new posts.
