ALL IN THE DETAILS: Throwing it Back to the '90s

Remember the days of Britney Spears, Pink, Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera? If you are as nostalgic for that music era as much as I am, then you are in luck; unfortunately, not music-wise, but style-wise. The ‘90s grunge and ‘90s heroine-chic styles have been trending for a few years now. In 2015, the biggest trend of the ’90s has come back with a bang: the choker. Yes, chokers. Remember those tattoo chokers us ‘90s kids wore practically every day? Well, they’re back and trendier than ever!

This Fashionista has successfully pulled several key elements of the ‘90s together into a modern look. Here she has modified the classic crop top with a crop that doubles as a sweater. The flared skirt complements the crop top very nicely, which is a veer from the norm of wearing high-waisted bottoms with a crop top. This particular skirt has additional detailing, such as the goldish-brown buttons on the front of the piece. The white sneakers instill a sporty aura, reminiscent of a grunge catholic school girl.

The accessories are a nice touch in completing the overall outfit. She wears bangles around her wrist and a few delicate necklaces. The thinness of the chokers elevates the sophistication of the look. The gold pendent on the thin black choker complements the olive leaf golden choker. Even though the burgundy cross-body bag is not a trend of the ‘90s, the dark-tone of the bag adds to the whole ‘90s vibe of the look.

How To: Want a ‘90s inspired look? A choker and a basic crop top is a must. In addition, this look should include a high-waisted skirt, as shown, or a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans along with a flannel shirt tied around the waist.
