Hey there Fashionistas/os! Today, I am bringing you a little inspiration from my very own wardrobe. For this outfit, I was inspired by the Elizabeth & James Resort 2015 line; the line is styled with very minimalistic, classic pieces. The line includes lots of stripes, blacks and whites and timeless pieces styled with a twist. I am a strong believer that less is more, and this simple, yet standout ensemble, is the perfect example that it doesn’t always take tons of pieces to create a cool, memorable look.
The main focus of this outfit is this lightweight T-shirt dress that features a classic black and white striped pattern. T-shirt dresses are everywhere this season; they come in all different shapes, colors and styles with the added bonus that they are ridiculously comfortable. What’s better than throwing on something that is essentially an oversized T-shirt and still looking put together? College students know that the answer to that is nothing. Many of the outfits featuring stripes in the Elizabeth & James line were layered with some sort of classic jacket, so I paired my striped T-shirt dress with a classic jean jacket. Denim is actually another huge trend for summer this year, and it is a perfect addition to this Elizabeth & James-inspired look because although denim is a very simple style, it adds beautiful contrast to the more modern stripes.
I love the mix of classic pieces in this outfit, denim and stripes are both trends that are timeless, and they compliment each other accordingly. T-shirt dresses typically look best with cropped jackets, as they help to add a waistline to an otherwise shapeless piece. I slipped on some ankle-high gladiator sandals in a nice camel color; the Elizabeth & James line featured some sort of sandal in every look, and the nude shade of the sandals helps to elongate the legs and adds a nice summer feel to the outfit. I dressed up the look with some of my favorite gold bracelets and bangles along with my everyday rings. I finished off the look with some black aviators and threw on my favorite black cross-body bag to help bring out the black stripes of the dress, and I was good to go.
