We’ve all had a point in our lives when sweatpants were an obsession. I mean they were comfortable, but that’s about it. They were perfect for cold weather, working out, lounging and just about anything. The only downfall was the fact that they gave no shape whatsoever; therefore, proving to be unflattering for many body types including my own. Thank goodness someone decided to bring back the jogger pant. Cinched at the ankles, these pants come in all kinds of materials, patterns and styles. As a result, joggers are able to be dressed up or down and are incredibly comfortable. The cinching at the ankles creates a leg shape and ultimately transforms the pant into something cute and stylish!
When thinking of this trend, I worry it may go quickly in and out of style. Through the years we’ve gone from baggy pants, to skinny pants, back to baggy pants, etc. In the late ‘90s people used to cinch their jeans with rubber bands to avoid stepping on them, which ended up leading to the invention of the jogger pant in the early 2000s. Celebrities such as Hilary Duff, Kendall Jenner and Usher all sport the jogger pant with different styles. Because each pair can look completely different, they can be styled fancy, casual or in between. Whether it be denim, khaki, sweatpants material or faux leather joggers, people have seemed to jump on the bandwagon. Since jogger pants are so versatile and comfortable, they make an awesome addition to a wardrobe.
You’re probably wondering how in the world to style a cinched pant like the jogger. Check out this Fashionista’s look among many. The simple black shirt allows for the joggers to pop. The subtle design and comfortable material makes them casual enough to pair with sandals and a bright colored clutch. The dainty, but colorful, earrings add for a nice detail to finish up the outfit without it being too simple.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My sole purpose for joggers is the comfort. The material and versatility make them a staple in my wardrobe.”
