The word “summer” brings to mind sweltering days spent by the side of the pool with an issue of Cosmopolitan in one hand and an ice-cold sweet tea in the other. Well, at least I have this image after spending most of my summers in the south. However, other parts of the country have been having a rather slow start to this picturesque summer scene. In fact, on some campuses, the temperature has been consistently hovering right around the 50s and 60s, leaving many Fashionistas wondering how to prepare for these unexpected chilly summer days.
The best way to deal with the finicky weather during the early part of summer is layers, layers and, of course, more layers. This Fashionista is pairing a cute, graphic tee with a slimming button-down and jeggings. The light-colored ankle boots dress the outfit up and little bit, while still keeping the Fashionista ready for the cooler weather.
She accessorizes the outfit with a bright pink statement necklace, incorporating the growing popularity of floral accessories into her outfit. I love how the necklace offsets the subtlety of the chunky watch around her wrist (still a main staple of any outfit) and her hipster-esque tortoise glasses. By belting the outfit with a metallic skinny belt and tucking in the tee, this Fashionista is drawing all eyes to her somewhat sassy, graphic T-shirt. On those colder mornings, all this outfit needs is a light trench coat.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Layering makes those transitional weather days less awkward and gives some of my favorite pieces more wear! It works perfectly in the early summer months too when sometimes stepping outside can be a toss-up between a sauna or a chilly 55 degrees.”
