The only thing that is potentially harder than getting out of bed on a gloomy day is fighting off the temptation to wear your favorite sweatpants and hoodie to class. One of my favorite tricks for stepping away from the sweatpants is having a cute accessory that is ready to be put to use. Either that, or some newfound outfit inspiration from one of my favorite bloggers or fellow Fashionistas will usually do the trick. Of course, there is nothing wrong with surrendering to the fleecy gray high school track hoodie you stole from your best friend’s closet and wearing it to class, since I’m sure you can pull it off perfectly, but sometimes the extra ounce of effort into your outfit on those dreary days can really brighten things up.
What first caught my eye about this Fashionista was actually not her bright neon windbreaker, but instead her all white ensemble beneath it. I have always been a huge fan of monochrome outfits, like black-on-black for example. I love how sleek and effortless it always looks, and that it is universally flattering on everyone who wears it. I feel the same way about white-on-white, and I love that people, like this Fashionista, are no longer hesitating to wear white from head to toe. An all-white outfit is always crisp, clean, and casually cool.
This Fashionista’s outfit is a perfect example on how to ease on in to the trend. Different textures and shapes can really take a white-on-white outfit to the next level, but I love how this Fashionista stayed true to herself and kept her take on the trend stylishly simple. She paired pieces that are a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. She went with a white V-neck T-shirt, cropped white jeans and gold strappy sandals that are the perfect neutral pair to compliment the look.
I especially love how this Fashionista didn’t let a little bit of rain keep her from rocking this trend. Her cheetah print umbrella and neon windbreaker work together perfectly, and add the perfect pop of color and design to her monochrome outfit. They are both attention-grabbing pieces on their own, but with this outfit everything comes together flawlessly.
The next time you find yourself unsure of what to wear on a day when the weather isn’t ideal, I hope you decide to take a bit of a risk instead of playing it safe and try out that trend you’ve been putting off.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When trying out a new trend, like white on white, don’t be afraid to take baby steps with it. Start out comfortable, and build on to it from there.”
