Remix your wardrobe! We all strive to make the most out of the clothing in our closets. We mix and match pieces from old outfits to create new ones. Versatile clothing becomes imperative during these times. One of the most versatile and stable items is a blazer (especially in black or white!). A blazer is a great investment and is great for work attire, but that is not its only purpose. Blazers can be paired with skirts, shorts, dresses and jeans. Most of the time, the occasion dictates what the blazer should be paired with.
This Fashionista is wearing her black blazer with light-washed, ripped jeans. Lighter wash and ripped jeans (in any wash) have been very popular trends in the denim world. The wash along with the rips make these jeans very casual, in turn making the entire outfit more casual. This Fashionista’s jeans are from Brandy Melville. Brandy is great for all of your basic clothing needs. They sell reasonably priced jeans that have an awesome fit (even after a few washes!). I know finding a pair of jeans that fit well is a problem for many, including me. So, naturally, I was ecstatic when I came upon Brandy Melville.
To finish the look, she threw on heeled beige sandals, a statement necklace and a black designer satchel. Underneath the jacket is just a plain T-shirt. The blazer transforms the outfit from just a T-shirt and jeans to a casual-chic outfit. We can’t forget about the details of the blazer! The cuffed sleeves give us a glimpse of the lining of the blazer, which incorporates both black and beige (my favorite aspect of the outfit). I love playing around with mixing black and shades of brown. Black clothing can sometimes be a bit harsh in the summer, so incorporating earth tones, such as beige, offsets the dark color and it gives it a summer feel. Lastly, the subtle black polka dots in the lining feminize the blazer and make it fun!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Throw on a blazer with clothing you normally wouldn’t pair it with. Mix and match until you find a look that works for you.”
