Zac Posen is one of my favorite American designers. I feel as though Posen and I would get along well, due to the fact that we both take on many tasks at one time. The tasks I take on do not nearly equate to the same magnitude as the tasks Posen takes on, however, I feel that Posen and I are cut from the same cloth. Posen just released two resort lines, is in the process of redesigning Delta Air Lines uniforms, designs for his own bridal line (Truly Zac Posen), is the creative director of women’s wear for Brooks Brothers and is a judge on the one and only Project Runway. Posen is truly a twenty-first century multitasker and is one of the most innovative designers in the fashion industry.
The latest resort 2016 line from Posen’s ready-to-wear line, Zac Posen, is a stroke of genius. I am a sucker for simplicity as I believe that less is always more. This particular line mixes solid colors with loud prints and focuses mainly on dark hues of: red, navy, green, orange and pink. An interesting part of the line is all of the different cuts and lengths that Posen chose to incorporate. There are knee-length skirts, maxi skirts and even shorts. Additionally, there are high and low cut shirt collars. I love the way that Posen is able to make a statement through a look, but also keep attention to the person wearing the outfit.
Posen’s resort 2016 line inspired my fun look for summer. I tried to keep the outfit as simple as possible by making the multicolored patterned shorts the main focus of this look. I attempted to play with length the way Posen is always able to accomplish this effortlessly. The scalloped hem of my crop top adds a unique length and more detail to the look. Keeping with the theme of simplicity, I finished off the outfit with a simple pair of Rainbow flip flops. I changed the colors that Posen incorporated into his line from dark hues to pastel hues to make the look more summer appropriate. Much of the inspiration drawn from Posen was based off of the unique lengths and mixing of patterns with solids.
