A black crop top paired with a printed wrap-around boho skirt is a new trend forming in my usual minimalistic style. It’s been a recent fad that has been growing on me due to this beautiful warm weather. While it’s definitely comfortable to stick to neutrals, it doesn’t hurt to try some print now and then.
Inspired by Valentino’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I combined a neutral top with a printed skirt, which was what Valentino’s new designs interweaved in most of the looks. I also stuck with this look in which he combined neutral colors with printed bottoms. I didn’t go as far with the prints as he did because let’s face it—runway looks tend to be intimidating. Instead of going the distance, I like to dabble first.
Boho-chic is influenced in most of Valentino’s collection, but it tends to stay classy with simple tops. In this outfit, my goal was to embrace the minimalistic style while slowly trying on a new trend.
My outfit includes a black crop top from American Apparel with a wrap-around bohemian skirt that I layered by taking the front folds of the skirt and tucking it in the waist portion of the skirt. To add to it, I used light brown wedges by Franco Sarto. I wanted a more bohemian look so I put my hair up to add to that effect.
It’s easy and fun to try something new without trying to leave your comfort zone. Neutral colors will never go out of style. By adding a pop of color or a printed bottom now and then, you’d be sure to quickly embrace the free spirit within you.
