I know what you’re thinking. Wearing white in the summer is not anything new. I can hear Meryl Streep saying her line from The Devil Wears Prada as she refers to a certain trend, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” But hey, a more achromatic color palette is just what your closet ordered to summer proof your wardrobe.
An all white outfit can be a little daunting. Take the lead from this Fashionisto. He paired white sneakers, a classic white tee and modified the look by adding light wash jeans instead of a stark white pair. To accessorize, he finished the look with a hat in a muted green.
His look reminded me of this Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2015 collection. These ready-to-wear looks, as well as this week’s Fashionisto, added subtle pops of color to predominantly white outfits. These elements combine to create a fresh, new twist on the classic all white color palette.
To translate this look for a saturday afternoon with your girlfriends, throw on a simple white T-shirt, a pair light wash boyfriend jeans and tennis shoes to finish off the look. To add your own pop of color, try it on your lips! Anything from coral, red or anything in between will add the perfect, summery contrast to the bleached out look.
What is you STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Fashion had always been a way for me to be creative and try and challenge myself. This summer my goal was to tone down the colors yet still keep my outfits interesting. There’s something satisfying about wearing a minimalist outfit.”
