Why be dull when you have the chance to stand out? I love bright colors; especially in the summer it’s one of the few times of the year any color goes. Along with colors, summer is the perfect time for dresses that overtake my summer wardrobe; they are so easy to throw on and can be styled differently every time.
Taking inspiration from the Elie Saab spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I chose to stick to one piece (a dress) which has enough detail to stand alone, which is exactly what Saab was going for in her collection. She titles her show, “Diving into the Deep Blue;” the majority of the colors used in the show were extremely rich and deep. This collection featured many dresses, jumpsuits and very high slits. Each piece was extremely detailed even if it did not have a pattern the cuts and hemming was pristine.
While Elie Saab’s is a bit more elegant than my everyday look, I wanted to make it my own. I fell in love with her dresses and colors but knew that dresses so fancy would never be worn day-to-day. In order to achieve this idea, and make it day-to-day I chose to wear and emerald green Free People dress that was extremely feminine and had many cuts on it, in the back. While the models are featured in heels, I chose to wear flat double strap sandals to make it more casual; nothing to bold to take away from the dress. Unfortunately, I would have loved to wear nothing under the dress, but that was not an option for me. I stuck to a simple bandeau in green that somewhat blended in with the dress and also gave it more detail.
My summer activities normally include being downtown, going for lunch with friends, and of course work. To make it street style I added my sunglasses and side satchel, each with a hint of gold.
Simple dresses with rich colors, sandals that can go with anything and sunglasses will always be staples in a summer wardrobe. Together these pieces can create the perfect look to go on vacation with, meet up with friends and stroll the streets, every girls’ must-haves!
