A perfect runway show that exemplifies a beautiful and vibrant color trend I have been incredibly interested in lately is Monique Lhuillier’s spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. The cobalt blue garments in the collection are striking and eye-catching in a way that could only occur with such a rich color. Her collection also features other primary colors such as yellow and red, which complement cobalt blue in a genius way.
Spring for me means a time to experiment with colors I would not normally see myself wearing. There always seems to come a time when a particular color catches my eye and becomes my new obsession. I seek it out in every store and stock my wardrobe with any piece I can find in that color. In the case of cobalt blue, I caught a glimpse of this Free People dress while leaving a store and I knew once I tried it on that I had to make it mine. This gorgeous color can also be found in accessories like this Vera Bradley purse, as well as a variety of clothing pieces.
The soft yellow and red floral pattern of the dress emphasizes the beauty of the cobalt blue background. The flowy shape of the dress gives it a relaxed, boho feel. In order to not draw any attention away from the spectacular color palette of the dress, I stuck with soft metallic accessories, such as my Vince Camuto glitter suede booties and a bib necklace from Forever 21. Since the dress has a low back, I decided to pull my hair back to emphasize its beautiful construction.
