Today I opted for an all-blanc look. This “white out” trend is something that I’ve always loved. I just feel like white on white is very clean and opting for this color scheme can really take an outfit to a whole other level of sophistication. Some white outfit staples that have been around for awhile are the white skinny jeans and white sneakers that stem from a hip hop trend back in 2014 called “the cocaine movement”.
There were a couple designers who participated in this white-out trend for their spring/summer 2015 ready-to-wear collections that I was drawn to, like Wes Gordon and Dion Lee. But this outfit came to be through some inspiration from J Mendel. Mendel created this collection through a collaboration with artist Enoc Perez. His whole collection was full of wrap-around pieces and breezy cuts based on inspiration from Perez’s painting translations of different architecture. It consists of 45 looks and it was very color-blocked with bright colors that really brought out the season.
For this outfit, I especially took note from Looks 45 and 15. I really thought the sheer tops were perfect for this cloudy, yet warm weather. I liked the breathability aspect and I tied my shirt up at the bottom to create a kind of clinging, wrap-around look. I had originally wanted to wear a white high-waisted skirt with this outfit, but sadly, I do not yet own one. A shopping trip is definitely in the horizon. The high-waisted shorts were added because of how they hugged my thighs to show off my figure and keep proportioned with my top.
I don’t know much about my top except that it’s DOTORI and it’s made in Korea because I actually bought it at a thrift store. It is a sheer, short-sleeve button-up that I paired on top of a basic white cropped-tank top with thicker shoulder staps. My shorts are BDG from Urban Outfitters. I purchased them some time last summer, so I don’t think they are still in stock, but I will definitely be linking some similar options below. My accessories are Michael Kors and I chose them simply because they added to the more sophisticated side of my outfit and they matched my shoes.
