Sometimes, the best combinations in life are the ones the least expected. We all know the phrase opposites attract, and sometimes, in fashion, this old aphorism could not be more true. Here, I show you an ensemble that combines some timeless fashion trends that come together to create an edgy and unique look.
This look was inspired by the Givenchy resort 2016 line. This line combines classic silhouettes like A-line skirts, trench coats and blazers and adds a fun twist by splashing the outfits with pops of leapord print, texture and color. To transition this collection into a wearable, everyday look I chose classic pieces with timeless silhouettes to reflect the line while also adding in some texture and print.
My cropped, black leather jacket is a classic silhouette that helps to cinch the waist while layered over this sheer, ivory, peplum top with lace detailing. The leather tones down the softness of the lace, while still keeping the look feminine and structured. I chose plain, black, skinny trousers to stay consistent with the classic look. To add some modern flair, I added a black and gold statement necklace that compliments the neckline of the lace blouse. For the final touch, I paired my outfit with some leopard-print heels inspired by Givenchy’s consistent use of leopard and cheetah print in their resort 2016 line.
This look is all about mixing feminine pieces with edge, prints and textures, and unique touches to make the look your own. In fashion, there are no rules; so take a chance. Slip into those bright heels and pull out that cheetah bag. Sometimes, these little touches can take even the most basic of outfits from drab to absolutely fabulous.
